William Young

William Franklin "Bill" Young, 84, of Bessemer City,  passed away on May 16, 2012, at his residence.  He was born January 2, 1928 in Davidson County, to the late David Eli and Virginia Grace Elliott Young.

Bill was a graduate of Linwood School and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy.  He earned a BA degree from Catawba College and a Master of Arts degree from Appalachian State University.  Bill was a former teacher and principal at McAdenville Elementary School as well as a teacher and assistant principal at Kings Mountain High School.  He was a member of Linwood United Methodist Church in Linwood, NC.  Bill's latest employment was with the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier.

Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Glista Kiser Young; children, William F. Young, Jr. and wife Connie of Lexington, Ky., Wesley R. Young and wife Jennifer of Winston-Salem, Carolyn Y. Nicholson and husband Mike of DeLand, Fl., and Lee E. Young and wife Pam of  Parma, OH.; grandchildren, Zachary Young, Taylor Young, Jerome Young, Keith Nicholson, Caleb Young, Joshua Young and Grace Young.

His memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Bessemer City, with Rev. Preston A. Davis officiating.

Visitation will be from 3:00-4:00 PM Saturday at the Church.
